Glossary of terms used in three strand splicing

Strand - A strand in three strand rope is a group of yarns which follow the identical path through the rope.

Crown - A crown is the highest point/peak of a strand traveling in a straight line along the axis of the rope.

Pitch - The pitch is the distance between consecutive crowns of the same strand.
